<p><b>Mathieu Deflem</b> is Professor of Sociology at the University of South Carolina, USA, and previously held positions at Kenyon College and Purdue University. His interests include international police cooperation, surveillance, popular culture and sociological theory, censorship, and law. To date, he has authored four books, including <i>The Policing of Terrorism</i> (2010) and <i>Sociology of Law</i> (2008).</p>
